In a nutshell, we download the information stored in the Event Data Recorder (aka “Black Box”, Airbag Control Module) following an accident. The accident does not necessarily have to result in an airbag deployment for data to be stored.
The information obtained can be used to verify vehicle speed, brake application, steering wheel position, seat belts, impact forces and much more.
